After the 25-minute ferry crossing from Ċirkewwa to the Mġarr Harbour in Gozo, we follow the uphill route to Xagħra and the famous Ġgantija Megalithic Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The visit commences at the Visitors Centre followed by a tour by our certified tourist guide leading this excursion. The journey continues upward as we head to Calypso Cave, offering panoramic views of the red sand of Gozo’s finest beach, Ramla l-Ħamra. According to myth, Calypso Cave is the cave referred to by Homer in The Odyssey.
We stay in the nothern part of the island as we drive to Marsalforn, Qbajjar and Xwejni bay, also taking in views of the saltpans and the amazing geological rock formations. Up next (literally) is the quaint village of Żebbuġ.
Rabat, the capital of Gozo also known as Victoria, is the next stop as we walk up to the Citadel, situated on a plateaux around 150 metres above sea level and home to the Gozo Cathedral.
After a lunch break at Xlendi Bay, a former fishing village, the journey continues towards Munxar on the way to Ta’ Ċenċ where a short walk will lead us to Sanap Cliffs – one of the secret spots of Gozo, our last stop on this amazing itinerary before we return to the port.
